Congenital ptosis is when the eyelid height is droopy from birth due to developmental dystrophy of the levator muscle, which is one of the muscles responsible for lifting the eyelid. There are two main surgeries to repair this ptosis, depending on the functional ability of the levator muscle.

Levator advancement - This procedure involves tightening the levator muscle by resecting and shortening the levator muscle through an eyelid crease incision.

Frontalis sling - This procedure involves placing a sling from the forehead to the eyelid, which pulls the eyelid up when the forehead muscle is elicited.
