Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is also known as a vampire facelift. PRP is plasma concentrated in platelets, which are natural growth factors. These growth factors stimulate collagen production and thus improve skin tone, tightening, and texture.
What can PRP be used for?
Fine lines
Wrinkles
Dull skin
Mild hollowness
Acne scars
Hyperpigmentation
What can I expect during the procedure?
A small amount of blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate the blood cells from the plasma. The plasma is injected or applied directly to the skin. PRP can be combined with other biostimulators, like PDNR. It can also be used in conjunction with other procedures, like microneedling, for better effect.
Meet the Face Behind LaFace
Originally trained in ophthalmology, Dr. Laura Phan has a deep passion for facial aesthetics and the intricate art of surgery. She has trained under world-renowned experts in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery and is one of only a few surgeons in her area with this specialist skillset. Whether she is designing personalized treatment plans or the interiors of her treatment rooms, Dr. Phan's refined aesthetic sensibility and attention to detail shine through.
We typically recommend 3 to 5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart.
How long will the effects of PRP last?
The effects start three weeks after treatment, optimize three months after the last treatment, and last 12 to 18 months.
What are the side effects?
There are minimal side effects since PRP comes from the patient’s own blood. Therefore, there is no risk of an allergic reaction. However, patients may be red for a day or two and bruised and swollen for up to a week if the PRP is injected into the skin rather than applied as a topical treatment.
