How Is a PDO Thread Lift Performed?

A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure performed with local anesthesia. Dr. Phan carefully inserts dissolvable PDO threads under the skin using fine needles, without making any incisions. The threads act as scaffolding to gently lift sagging skin while stimulating collagen production to improve skin elasticity and firmness over time.

The procedure typically takes 45 minutes to an hour and is performed at our office. The PDO threads gradually dissolve over the course of 6 to 12 months, leaving behind long-lasting support from the newly formed collagen.

What To Expect After a PDO Thread Lift

There is little to no downtime following a PDO thread lift. Patients may experience some mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness in the treated areas, but these side effects typically resolve within several days and do not preclude patients from continuing their daily activities.

Your initial results will be immediately noticeable; however, the full benefits of your PDO thread lift will need 2 to 3 months to develop as collagen production increases. You can enjoy your lifted, rejuvenated appearance for a year or more before a follow-up procedure is needed.

Complementary Procedures

Many patients choose to pursue a PDO thread lift as an alternative to a brow lift, facelift, or neck lift when the sagginess is not severe enough for surgery. Depending on your treatment goals, you can also use PDO threads in concert with other nonsurgical procedures to further enhance the lifting and skin-tightening benefits, such as:

As a matter of fact, Dr. Phan often combines Morpheus8 RF microneedling and PDO thread as a non-surgical face and neck lift. The former tightens the skin, while the latter lifts the skin for comprehensive rejuvenation.

Dr. Phan firmly believes that the best, longest-lasting results require consistent maintenance, whether you choose to get a PDO thread lift alone or as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
