Meet Dr. Laura Phan, Fellowship-Trained Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Phan earned her BS in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis. She furthered her education at Yale with a Master of Public Health degree before spending a year as a research fellow at Northwestern University.

She then attended medical school at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, where she focused her attention and training on ophthalmology. Dr. Phan’s love for surgery and appreciation of facial aesthetics led her to pursue advanced training in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery with the world-renowned oculofacial plastic surgeon Dr. Thomas Spoor.

She served as an oculoplastic, orbital, and neuro-ophthalmology fellow through St. John Providence Health System before refining her skills at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University.

There, she completed a prestigious and highly competitive fellowship through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). Only 20 surgeons a year are awarded this opportunity to get specialized training in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelid, orbit, and face.

Dr. Phan is deeply committed to ongoing learning and regularly travels to Korea to keep up with the latest techniques and treatments.

In addition to sharing her expertise in an applied setting, Dr. Phan also advances scholarship in her field through her research. She has published dozens of scientific articles and stays current on the latest techniques and treatments.
