KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, the first and only FDA-approved non-surgical intervention, that permanently dissolves moderate to severe amount of fat below the chin, also known as “double chin.” Deoxycholic acid is the same substance found in the gallbladder that helps breakdown and absorb dietary fat. Once destroyed, these fat cells do not return. KYBELLA® has been researched globally in over twenty studies with over 2,600 patients. The safety profile of KYBELLA® is well documented. The most common side effects include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and firmness in the treated area. These side effects are transient.

Up to six treatments may be administered 6-8 weeks apart. On average, three treatments are necessary, depending on the amount of fat present.

How are Kybella administered?
After ice is applied to the chin, the chin is marked. Kybella is then carefully injected into the chin using ultra-fine needle.

How do I prepare for treatment?
Patient may take anti-histamine, such as Zyrtec, the night before treatment and Ibuprofen 800mg half hour before treatment. These can help minimize swelling.

What do I expect after treatment?
It is normal for the area of treatment to swell for several days in mild cases to up to three weeks in severe cases of double chin.

Is there any post-treatment care needed?
There is little post-treatment care. Patient may use ice to help with the swelling. Ibuprofen may also help with the swelling and discomfort. Patient may return to work the same day as treatment.
